Games

Games  allow learners to practice tasks, apply knowledge and infer principles as well as having fun. They provide specific educational advantages over the other forms of learning. For example, they show consequences not normally visible, let learners make mistakes without suffering permanent consequences, encourage learners to pause, reflect and revise. They also simplify complex situations, give opportunities for abundant practice and feedback and reawaken learning by play. Quiz-show games are one of them and good for testing factual knowledge. Such games serve as a test and they are efficient.

There are many available and useful educational games sites used for couraging students and making learning effective and enjoyable. Take a look at some of them :)

PLICKERS

Plickers is a powerfully simple tool that lets teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices. Plickers is used for quick checks for understanding to know whether  students are understanding big concepts and mastering key skills. Give all students the chance to participate and engage in learning without feeling self-conscious.

The basic element is the Plicker card. The Plicker Web site has Plicker cards that you can download and print on a local printer. Each card has a number and you can associate a specific card to a student.

In terms of using the cards, teachers can hand out cards each class and keep the responses anonymous. If students are identified by card, their results will be logged against their name in the software.   While using the mobile device to capture responses, they  can automatically see the results display on the screen.
